Caesar, the most popular general in Rome, is assassinated, leaving two men – the honourable Brutus and the ambitious Cassius – to divide the spoils. But they’ve reckoned without Mark Antony, Caesar’s devoted follower and determined successor, and soon the republic all have sought to preserve is brought to the brink of anarchy.
The Stratford Shakespeare Festival is a repertory, not-for-profit, theatre festival, permanently located in Stratford, Ontario, Canada. Our mission is to produce, to the highest standards possible, the best works of theatre in the classical and contemporary repertoire, with special emphasis on the works of William Shakespeare. Under the general direction of Antoni Cimolino and theartistic direction of Des McAnuff, the 2009 season aims to present Shakespeare for the 21st century along with a glorious variety of other repertoire.
